The Holy Altar where the sacrafice of the Mass will take place is indeed a sacred object.
For those of you unfortunate Catholics who have never seen what the altar SHOULD look like, here is a picture of a very simple altar.

Simple though it is, the beauty and awe are striking. The above is what Vatican II and the Modernists have tried to take away from you and I. They have replaced the above with this:
